Chapter 8 – When Spring Blossoms Summer’s Flowers Bloom


My winter and spring were great! Ellie and I went to Smith Dale and stared in our own movie “When Spring Blossoms, summer’s Flowers Bloom.” It had Jonny Deep in it and it also had Selena Gomez. It was awesome and I got to see my mom again. I lived with my mom at the time of my bad girl years and she was happy to see me hanging out with a girl instead of Jay and or Sean. She was also happy that I wore colorful clothes now and wasn’t all depressed and everything. She was happy to meet Ellie and overjoyed that she could meet one of my friends before she left but what she didn’t count on was that Sean and Marco meant up with us. She adored Marco but Sean was a little surprising. After a little chit-chat with my mom we headed to our next destination, Vegas!

When we got to Vegas the lights were awesome it was just too bad we were only passing through. I took some pictures that I thought dad would want to see. I even got Craig a new guitar that he wanted when he saw us there. I was just happier and my life wasn’t full with a bunch of drama but where would we be without drama in our lives? After Vegas we headed out to Atlanta.

Craig had decided to come with us and I didn’t mind as long as he kept his hands off of me and Ellie I was completely fine. In Atlanta we had the best first part of winter of our lives. Me and Craig played a gig at the bar and got big money for it. Now I am as rich and my father! Ha take that government! I really hate the government but back on topic. After Atlanta Ellie and Sean took Marco’s car and headed to Arkansan while me, Marco, and Craig went to New York. The big apple! This, I thought, would be awesome.

When we got there me and Craig and Marco went ice skating where me and Craig did another gig and had a little winter romance. Only spending a few days there we headed to North Dakota for the spring.

In North Dakota I and Craig had a picnic which was interrupted by a pack of wolves hunting bison in the distance. It was just a tad scary but we got out of there in time before we were killed. Marco found a boyfriend names Jake and he came back with us on our way home. Craig and I were still kinda together but not boyfriend and girlfriend. It was more like friends with benefits now.

And up until I got halfway back home I didn’t think about Jay once. Not once, not when me and Ellie were in the movie, not when me and Craig did our gig, and not when Craig and me kissed. Not until now did I remember what I said to Jay. It seemed I had already moved on but I hadn’t. I had blocked out the good memories as well as the bad with Jay. I wanted to be with Jay but being gone all winter and spring may have made him move on. I wonder if he was still waiting for me back home. I hoped he was but what was I supposed to tell Craig. Sorry I told Jay to wait for me to see if I was still in love and I am so we can’t be together anymore? I didn’t want to break his small heart. Not me, I didn’t want to be the one to make a guy die inside.

It was two a.m. and I noticed that we passed a sign that said Welcome to Degrassi! I was either seeing things or the sign was wrong. I just knew that we were now officially back home. I dropped off Marco and kissed Craig good night when he got out and headed back to my house. I was happy to be home so when I got inside I crashed on the couch and fell asleep. I just hoped that I wouldn’t see Jay when I went to the ravine to tell Spinner that I was back now. My dad could wait until after.

In the morning when I woke up I went to my bath room with a towel and clothes. I took a shower and put on a black corset with green skinnies. I almost looked different I know it’s strange but my eyes were now a bright amber color like a wolf and my hair was down to my ass and not shoulder length anymore. I got taller so now I could kiss Craig or Sean without them bending down. The only thing needed was for me to stand taller and little bit.

I brushed my hair and put it up into a pony tail. I grabbed my Hinder jacket, put it on grabbed my house keys and left locking the doors. When I got to the ravine there was a fire going and I hadn’t noticed that it was already nine at night. I guess I should see dad some other time. When I walked down to the fire, sure enough, Spinner was sitting alone with a beer in his hand. He was the only one around the fire which was surprising. I plopped down next to him which startled
him.

“Hey Spinner, I’m back from my little road trip!” I exclaimed as he turned his gaze over to me.

“Cater, you almost made me spill my beer, but I could care less since your back!” he said giving me a big bear hug. “So was the movie fun?” he asked me intent on knowing even if he had to use…. The tickles.

“Well duh! In Vegas Craig came along then Ellie and Sean left after Atlanta and then we went to New York where…” I stopped mid-sentence before I said anymore.

“What?” he asked pleading.

“Promise not to tell a soul?” I asked. He nodded and I knew that I could trust Spinner with this. “In New York when we were ice skating at a gig me and Crag had together we won and well… We kissed! Then we went out for a while then it was just friends with benefits and I think it still is but im in love with someone else but I think the someone else moved on!” I said my head falling into Spinner’s shoulder.

“Wow that’s a lot of valuable info. Don’t worry it won’t leave my lips.” He said pretending to lock his mouth shut. I looked around in the darkness to see no one that I knew.

“What happened here?” I asked seeing only snobs.

“Jane and me are over after she meant someone new, Darcy moved to Kenya, Peter is with Mia, Jay is somewhere around here, Emma is at Smith Dale with Manny, and I think Jonny and Alli are in the van.” Spinner said. A lot had changed since I was gone all summer.

“Does Jay have a girlfriend?” I asked slight concern filling my eyes. He looked over at me a raised an eyebrow.

“Is Jay this someone you were just talking about?” he asked me smiling because
he knew he was right but im a good lire.

“No he isn’t but Ellie wants to know because she knows a friend who likes him.” I said and Spin looked like he bought it.

“Ok fine I buy it, Jay was with Alex after you left but they have been on and off for a while.” He said then finally getting a glimpse of me in the light his eyes popped out. “Wow I don’t think he is even gonna recognize you unless you speak!” he cooed. “Man, Carter you look fine! Are you taken?” he asked jokingly.

“No but im waiting for someone special remember?” I laughed. Someone was suddenly coming up behind us and gave another beer to Spinner.

“Just thought you were gonna need another one soon.” A familiar voice said to Spinner. The person sat in the empty seat next to Spinner that was connected to another row of seats. I couldn’t tell who it was because they weren’t in the light but I knew that I knew them.

“Oh thanks man.” Spinner said throwing the can he was done with away into the fire and opening the new can. I whispered something to Spinner not tell who I was to this person because I had a feeling it was someone I loved. When the person moved forward so you could see their face I noticed it was Jay. My face was starting to heat up as I remembered the time and the waterfall. Jay glanced over to me and that’s when I realized that I was staring. I averted my gaze and turned to Spinner and got up.

“I should get home, bye Spinner.” I said taking a gulp of his beer and started head home.

“You’re not gonna walk are you?!” he shouted back as he saw I had no intention of going towards parking.

“Yeppers I walked I will walk home!” I shouted back blowing him a kiss.

“I’m coming with you Carter!” he shouted started to get up and that’s when Jay’s attention was caught. I was almost of sight and I couldn’t hear them anymore but I could hear someone’s footsteps behind me. When I got on the side walk some was walking beside me. I was almost 90% sure it was Jay. As I looked up I notice Jay’s hat.

“When were you going to tell me it was you?” he asked putting his arm around my shoulder pulling me closer to his warm body. I was almost as tall as him and now I was 16!

“I was hoping you could guess that it was me but I guess not!” I teased him.

“Well I wasn’t going to get it until Spinner said your name.” he replied giving me a tight squeeze. I smiled.

“I missed you over winter/spring break.” I said turning my amber eyes to his face.

“Yeah I would like to know what happened during your break.” He said looking, down, at me.

“Well I saw my mom during the making of the movie and she was glad I wasn’t hanging out with you and Sean all the time anymore, had a gig with Craig in Vegas, he ended coming with us on our road trip. Sean and Ellie left after we went to Atlanta and had another gig. Craig, Marco, and me then went to New York where we had yet another gig.” I said pausing deciding if I should tell him about Craig or not. “We went to North Dakota and then came home.” I said leaving out Craig and my relationship.

“What about you?” I asked wondering if he would tell me about Alex or not.

“I have just been on and off with Alex and at the moment we are on.” He said. I turned my gaze down at the sad news that Jay had moved on now and he didn’t want me.

“By the way, in New York me and Craig hooked up.” I said waiting for the big explosion in my face. He only smirked. “What’s wrong with you? Im waiting for you to bitch at me!” I said tearing my body away from his so I could look at him.

“I just find it funny because you told me that you would never fall for Craig in a million years.” He said slight anger in his voice. I should be the one who was mad still!

“Well I broke up with Craig.” I said wanting to scream ‘did you even think about waiting for me?!’ but I guess he didn’t.

“Cool, well here is your house. Im going over to see Alex so bye.” He said leaving me at my front door. I opened the door and slammed it shut. Maybe I should tell him about Sean! Then he wouldn’t be laughing now would he? I couldn’t believe how Jay just acted to me dating Craig in the past I mean it’s like he doesn’t even care as a friend! Tomorrow im going to the ravine to hand out with Spinner at least he would get me. Or maybe Ellie would go with me. She likes the ravine too. I would just have to see in the morning.

In the morning I got up and called Ellie who said she would go to the ravine but she was bringing Sean even though they broke up. I would have usually asked Craig but I didn’t want him to get involved with this type of thing. When we got down the ravine it was packed full of people two of them being Alex and Jay. I walked around trying to find them when I spotted Alex with Paige kissing! Jay stared in anger and it looked like they were going to get into a fight. Ellie went to go talk to Ashley leaving me and Sean alone. That was very bad since we can’t keep our hands off each other. I glanced over at Sean who was wearing a white tank top that showed off his biceps nicely. He had his arm around me and it looked as if we were dating each other. It was kinda of cool because we looked good together. When we got over to Jay Alex had gone off with Paige.

“Oh hey man!” Jay said as Sean and he exchanged a greeting.

“Hey Jay, you remember Carter right?” Sean said pulling me up there as if I was his new girlfriend he was introducing.

“Yeah saw her last night down here wandering around like a lost puppy.” He said almost mockingly. I glared at him.

“I was talking to Spinner.” I stepped in to defend myself of what I was being accused of. Jay just shook his head. Sean saw one of his friends and walked over to say hi leaving me and Jay alone. Not good. I looked over at Jay who looked back at me. This was not going to end well was it?
